RAGBRAI LI Day Passes are still available!

Long Road Home

Well its a week later and I am driving to the Indiana State Road Race Sunday morning. Off in the distance, silhouetted in the sun I see a couple of cyclist fully laden with panniers. Now that is not too unusual of a sight along Lincoln Highway as one of Adventure Cycling’s routes runs through our town.

As I got closer I saw a couple of the orange RAGBRAI cards and realized that while I had travelled the 300+ miles to my house last Saturday this couple was just arriving a week later after the big ride. They had been at my bike shop and the local wrench  told me the couple was from Texas, had ridden RAGBRAI and were now headed to the east coast.

RAGBRAI is a universal bicycle language.  It is alive everywhere there are bicycles and jerseys.

One self-contained rider carried the “Oregon to Georgia” sign all week.  I don’t doubt that the route was going that way.  RAAM (Ride Across AMerica) used to be a huge thing, but not a party like RAGBRAI…
