Overnight Town Bands

I hope it’s not too early to talk about the entertainment. What bands/acts are on your wish list this year? Last year (on my 10th RAGBRAI), I finally saw Hairball in Centerville. I was blown away. I am hoping that Hairball performs in Clear Lake. That would be phenomenal.

I liked the band the first night last year in Glenwood. I wouldn’t be disappointed one bit if they showed up again. I think a good classic rock cover band would be fitting for just about everyone in the crowd. I don’t go out to see many bands in the off season (the other 51 weeks of the year) so I don’t have any ideas for good ones to line up. Hairball of course is always good. Johnny Holm’s Band always seems to be popular.

How about a country band? Seems like its always rock and roll and never Country.

Two words: Brave Combo.

In Clear Lake it would be great if they could get a band that pays tribute to Buddy Holly, Richie Valens, and The Big Bopper. I know there are at least two groups that do that, “The Night The Music Lived”, and “Winter Dance Party” I think that would be a lot of fun.

Boogie and the YoYoz is a real good band that plays a little of everything and they have a lot of energy. check them out on their web site

I thought they have had a country band or two in the last several years. I think they don’t do country as much because I don’t think there’s a huge demand for it. The groups of RAGBRAI folks that I’m around aren’t country music people. Rock bands are easy and good for everyone across the board.

Brave Combo made me giggle. I’ll give you a dollar if they get hired. I heard the Nadas are playing at the country club.

nocoloco: Houndmouth is a phenomenal band. “Sedona” is such a kick-ass tune. The band Future Islands would be on top of my ultimate wish list.

I’m still holding out for U2. Send Bono an invite TJ. Our team’s pick would be AC DC who will be on tour this year. What I don’t need is another Styx cover band or any form of the original.

I think it would be great to see the Nadas or Gaelic Storm(but I know that would be a stretch)

I agree, we don’t need another Styx cover band. I wonder what Jimmy Buffett is doing this July?

Watch them book a Rush cover band. Yikes.

Since we will be north I’m hoping we get the Johnny Holm Band again. They added some younger band members and were really good last time in 2015 with a wide variety of music. Everything from classic rock to new Top 40 rock.
