Now that we know where we are going, who’s going to play there? Speculation and rumors are more than welcome here. 🙂
I could do without Hairball but I bet they will be playing in one of the overnights.
I wonder if J C Fogerty is still touring. Some CCR would be VERY popular I think!
RAGBRAI and Hairball are joined at the hip in July. My guess is that they will be in a smaller town. My guess is Jefferson to “compete” with Def Leppard and Journey performing in DSM that same night.
I was a big fan of “Hello Weekend” from two years ago. I forget which town they played in but they were awesome!
I always thought Jimmy Buffett would be perfect for RAGBRAI, but I see he’s touring with the Eagles this summer so that probably won’t happen. On a side note, if promoters could figure it out, they could get a big name to play in Ames at Hilton or Carver in Ia City. Give RAGBRI’ers a section, and then charge admin for the other seats.
A great up and coming band with mass generational appeal is Joe Hertler and The Rainbow Seekers. I hope an overnight town can bring this band in because they will no doubt rock the house.
Devil, Don’t Steal my Bicycle – Joe Hertler and The Rainbow Seekers #Joehertlerandtherainbowseekers Bring the Sun Flowers! It was pleasant surprise to see them perform in Petosky, MI in 2017.
Ghost Riders!! Great mix of old and new rock and country. You won’t find a more diverse band. Booking info at email@example.com
I’m still holding out for U2. Bono needs to get back on his bicycle. Pink or the Foo Fighters would also fit in nicely. Anybody but Styx or one of their clones.
I would love to hear the band that played at the Announcement Party, Pork Tornadoes, play somewhere along the route. I thought their covers were awesome!
I do not know about overnight towns but I want to see Spacemen again and always Maddie Poppe.
I’ve heard some of the surviving members of Placid Quake will be playing in Onawa during opening weekend. Not sure of the venue. Keep your ears open…and you won’t have to keep them open much. They were incredibly loud last time I heard them!
You win, Hairball booked for Jefferson 🙂
Roger Clyne and the Peacemakers! I say it all the time, this band has a large following throughout the US and are a good party band. PLUS, Roger Clyne is a bike rider and may want to join in.
Blackberry Smoke would also be a good one! Green Death is a local band from Iowa which might be good for a smaller venue looking for a heavier sounding band, shout out to Parker Willis!!
Seriously? Hairball in Jefferson? It was just an educated guess. I didn’t know I was going to be right.
