Has anyone heard anything about any of the acts performing in the overnights? Usually we start hearing about them by now.
My vote is for John Prine but he is probably too big for RAGBRAI. Bonnie Raitte?
Jimmy Buffett. It seems like this ride would be his sort of thing.
If Bono has got back in the saddle after his big wreck, he could bring over U2 for a couple tunes. The Who also have some room on their tour schedule…
A small dance band and a partner who likes to waltz, polka or two-step would suit me just fine. Haven’t heard any of those bands for quite a few years now. Again, probably just wishful thinking. Dang. Knees36
They’ve probably heard of Iowa
Two words – ZZ Top! Can you imagine THAT party!!!!
Too bad they are in Sweden in July.
Maybe if we start a petition……
The Pixies would be AWESOME. Too band Kim Deal isn’t in the band anymore.
Yeah miss her. Maybe we get the Breeders as well.
I’d rather hear/see local or regional bands instead of expensive national talent. There was a really good Beach Boys/’60s “surf music” cover band from the Twin Cities (Bob and the Beachcombers) on the ride back in the day; they’re still around and available. Another group, also based in MN, that would probably go over well with RAGBRAI Nation is Brat Pack Radio (check out their website at http://bratpackradio.com/ — stupid website here won’t let me post links), featuring songs of the 1980s.
I actually think you’re right, Bill. I have seen a trend with smaller overnight towns having generally local bands. I could see some acts like The Nadas or The Blue Band performing this year.
I saw a band in a pass thru town called Abbie Normal. They were amazing!
Abby Normal, went to HS with bass player, they will be back someplace. https://www.facebook.com/search/top/?q=abby%20normal
Ottumwa’s web site say Rick Springfield will be performing there.
Abby Normal has played Kenny’s Pub in Waukee. Abby Normal is also the name of a friends cat in Texarkana, TX…yes the cat does live up to her name.
Okay, nice pull Ottumwa. Rick Springfield it is.
