patches

Looking to buy Ragbrai patches:
* XXXVIII (2010) patch & Karras Loop
* XLII (2014) Karras loop only
* XLV (2017) Karras Loop only
I made the Karras loop each time but guess I spent too much time eating pie as a reached the patch distribution point after they had left, around 4p, LOL πŸ™‚
thanks, mark. reply here or @ swanson_ttu@sbcglobal.net thanks

Can you buy them through the shop tab here on the RAGBRAI website?

I finished both sections early enough in the day (around 1 pm) to get a patch (I thought) and never saw anything. No signage or people or patches. I can’t believe I just rode past them.

This year there was spray paint “Karras loop patches” and an arrow pointing to the right, however when I got there, I asked around and was told “they took off in a hurry at exactly 4p” so I suppose you just missed them. At least one year there were folks standing in the road handing out the patches.

Just out of curiosity, what do most people do with their patches? I only have a few in my collection but I didn’t know if people keep them in a box like I’m doing for now, in a scrapbook, if they actually put them on something. I’m guessing all of the above, but I guess I’m looking for a little bit of a survey here to see what people on the forum do with them.

I’m sure RAGBRAI vets do all of the above with their patch’s, to include tossing in a drawer and forgotten. The ones I am missing for my collection are no available online at the RAGBRAI shop. Hoping someone is willing to part with theirs. thanks

I have all mine matted and framed. Fun to look at over the years! I’d send a photo if I knew how πŸ™ƒ

I plan on sewing all my patches on a book bag or something like that to take on Ragbrai. However after nine years and three Karras Loop patches they just sit in a drawer.

I started off sewing mine to a book bag, that I still use as a shower bag. But, after five years I realized I would eventually run out of room. Since my wife and I do the ride together, we had extra patches, so I started over framing them. After 28 years I’m working on filling my third frame.
