Places to swim and cool off on our daily route

Most days on our annual trek across Iowa it is nice to take a break and cool off for a short time and I carry a swim suit and camp towel for this purpose but I’m sure I miss some public pools and other opportunities (ponds, lakes, streams) so I printed out each daily route and I’m looking for input on where the swimming opportunities are located along our daily route.

Day 1 … Council Bluffs, McClelland, Underwood, Neola, Minden, Avoca, Walnut, Marne, Atlantic

Day 2 … Atlantic, Wiota, Anita, Adair, Casey, Menlo, Stuart, Dexter, Earlham, Winterset

Day 3 … Winterset, Cumming, Norwalk, Indianola

Day 4 … Indianola, Lake Ahquabi, Liberty Center, Lacona, Chariton, Millerton, Bethlehem, Confidence, Honey Creek, Walnut City, Mystic, Centerville

Day 5 … Centerville, West Grove, Blomfield, Troy, Lebanon, Leando, Douds, Libertyville, Fairfield

Day 6 … Fairfield, Stockport, Salem, Houghton, Geode State Park, Middletown, West Burlington, Burlington

Day 7 … Burlington, West Burlington, Middletown, Geode State Park, Denmark, West Point, Franklin, Donnellson, Montrose, Keokuk

on Satuday there will be a large river on your left….. there might be an occasional beach or two, but currents can be deadly.

Several of the overnight towns have municipal swimming pools. They are always great for cooling down your core temperature
