RAGBRAI LI Route Announced on Jan. 27!

RAGBRAI "Bucket List" for Newbie

So…this is my first RAGBRAI and I am trying to create a “Bucket List” of all the things “I HAVE TO DO” on RAGBRAI. You know, things like: go to the bathroom in a cornfield, meet legends like Michrider and Papa T, eat a pork chop…

WHAT ELSE??? Keeping it “clean”, what else do we “HAVE” to do?

nobody mentioned skinny dipping. I agree with stopping by older folks and kids. Have something for them. I have beads, Brewhaha stickers and LiveStrong bracelets.
Remember, the circus is in town and you are a circus performer. Make somebody’s day

Make a “pity stop” once a day. That’s a stop at some kiddie stand that is set up at yhr totally wrong place because that is where they live. It might be halfway up a hill, at the bottom, or in town s couple blocks away from the action where everyone else is.

Visit the local, small town grocer for some fresh fruit and veggies. Beats some of the “carnival” food available at some of the venders.

Look for Team Flamingo and say “hi” to me. I’m the one called “Big Bird.”

Also, catch the hula hoop girl’s performance. She’s one of the street performers that travels with RAGBRAI. She does a flaming hula hoop act that is awesome.

I go out everyday looking for the same thing. Free beer and senseless nudity.

Set an all-time record last year by getting free alcohol in five different places in one day.

On a side note, on the Brag spring training ride we got free Heineken last year.

Year 14 for me and I have not seen nudity. Just saying. . .

You must dance st 9:00 in the morning when stopping in a pass thru town. Macaraina or Stomp.

Yeah, good one jws! Or they will be like a block or two short of your overnight campsite. I always stop at those and give them a little extra. The kids are thrilled with getting $2 for a 50 cent lemonade.

I know the roads will be crowded with bikes, and you need to keep your head on a swivel to stay safe. But when that time comes when you’re in the clear or you quietly crest that hill, sneak a peak to your left or right at the countryside. You’ll discover some impressive vistas that you don’t get from I-80.

If there is a mechanical bull, water slide, get your picture taken with a mermaid, local dancing, local site, or trapezes swing over a pond…stop. The best times I have had on RAGBRAI were the quirky things.
