How does the share the road plate work? I mean I have one so every year does part of my license fee go towards the Share the Road fund or just the first year that I bought them?

Hi Amanda.  I have a “Share the Road”  license plate as well and  I think we are charged an extra $25 each year over the cost of the regular registration when we renew, so  I’d wager that all of part of that $25 goes to a fund such as the Share the Road (although for some reason  I had never heard of that fund.)  Where have  I been???

Yep, Share the Road plates support the Iowa Bicycle Coalition.  I have two plates!!  Wait, I have four plates on two vehicles.  My math skills have gone down hill since we got this no-math-forum.

Oh, yes, the Bike Coalition. That’s what I meant! LOL! So if my license fee is 250, 25 goes to the Bike Coalition? Awesome. Everyone should get share the road plates. I was one out of two people in my county to get the plates when they first came out. :) I wonder how many have them now?

I would definitely pay the extra money and buy a pair, if I lived in Iowa (or another state that offered such plates).  I’d much rather see my extra money go to something like the Bike Coalition than buying Packer plates

with the money going to support a football stadium.

About fell off my bike laughing when I saw a STR plate on a Hummer H1.
