That would be some great info
Hey EdMovic:
At the Expo, the……oh….I just blanked on their name! It’s one of the Hospitals. They have these awesome laminated 3×6 booklets that have the route for each day on a separate card, complete with distances between the passthough towns, total climb, additional information, etc. Free, too (they have a donation box out).
Food and water in pass though towns: that’s a harder one. I don’t believe there’s a central listing for that. There is always, always, food and water in a passthough, but there might be only a few food places and one water filling spot in one of the very small towns.
See you in Late July…

In your packet that came with your wristband, bike band, registration, etc there is an insert page that has all the distances between each town, pass through town, etc, etc. Be forewarned though, day 1 distances between towns is not correct. I think it was Early, IA that they had 9 or 12 miles for and it is closer to 25 miles. Anyway, check your packet and you will find what you are looking for.
I’m also chasing down my packet. I don’t have it and currently RAGBRAI has not responded to queries.
This is my 17th year. Historically the pre ride woull on d describe what amenities were available or not available. This year they are sending me to a podcast that is good but not telling me what’s going on in the pass through towns.
It’s the Iowa Hospital Association. Great laminated cards, one for each day, They won’t melt in the poacket of your jersey. Don’t pass it up! It is the very first thing we look for at the EXPO.
Those maps at the Expo are print outs of the maps that RAGBRAI had always provided on the past (and are not available yet, so who knows if we will get them.) If RAGBRAI doesn’t make them available, I doubt the hospital association will have them available (unless they decide to create their own and not use the maps provided by RAGBRAI as they have in past years.)
In the past route maps have been available in metal racks next to the RAGBRAI merchandise trailer. For food & beverage on the route and pass through towns just keep your eyes open. Every pass through town is asked to provide a free water source on the route in town, nearly all do, but they may not be signed well. Bring two water bottles, when you empty one start looking for a refill opportunity.

Now that the daily maps are posted on the website, you can make laminated cards, similar to the ones provided by the Iowa hospital association, for yourself, in case you’re not going to make the expo before they run out. Download the image file, insert the image file in a powerpoint file or similar, size the images, and print the file out. Then take it to a copy shop, cut out the individual maps & laminate them. Very cheap to do.
