SAG ebikes?

Just curious. I couldn’t find anything on the website that excluded them, so assuming the sag vehicles can also pick up ebikes? They are a lot heavier which made me wonder. Anyone know if there is a restriction on using SAG for ebikes?

I had to SAG in 2015. The Register has four SUV / trailer combinations to pick up those in trouble. The trailers are sturdy looking tray types that fit multiple sizes of bikes. They resemble the Thule racks that hold up to 60 pounds per tray. I think the trailers hold 15 to twenty bikes. The signal that you want SAG support is to turn your bike upside down. So as long as you can do that, there should be no problem. Support starts at 8:00 am, and only travels at 15 miles per hour. The latter is so the driver or passengers can look for flipped bikes. Since it goes so slowly, a ride in a SAG wagon could take most of the day. I was switched to an ambulance and taken to a hospital. I crashed at 6:00 am, and it was about 7:00 pm when I got to camp. I was able to get my bike back since bike and wrist bands match.

Have a great time at Ragbrai! Hope you don’t need to SAG.

The sag wagons kind of space themselves out starting at different times. If you need likexwas said turn it upside down on the left side of the road. If they fill up they head to the overnight and unload and go back out. Sometimes bikes will get flagged for pick up later.

They pick up anything. Trikes, tandems, etc.

From past years, I assumed my Trike could fit on the trailer. Don’t know how I could turn it upside down though. That is not really a thing with most trikes.

Is there an alternative signal?

Hi Bruce,
Can you tip your trike on its side? Were it me, I would try that, wave and give the thumbs down signal when the SAG wagon shows. But! I hope you don’t need to.

Just flag them down when they come by. They usually only go about 10 miles an hour.
