I’m happy on my 6″ thick inflatable mattress and an oversized fleece blanket. Lay on top or wrap up in it. Not sure it’s a lightweight combo, but a good night’s sleep is high on my list of needs on a week-long ride
Most of our team will use bedrolls – sheet and and fleece. I’m taking a sleeping bag to put over a 1 inch self-inflatable mattress. I’ll lie on it and put a sheet over me – with a blanket availability if it drops below 70 (ha!).
It looks like it’s going to be hot so I say at min. bring a blanket. If you want some comfort, bring a air mattress. If you have trouble sleeping in the heat or humidity, bring a portable fan. Most will last the whole trip on one set of batteries. Pillow or some sort, that’s up to you.
Figure everything will get wet, and plan for that.
I purchased the 02 Cool fans from walmart – via the rec of the die-hard riders on the forum. 2 5.5 inch fans powered by 2 D size batteries per tent. Should be good. 1 inch self-inflatable mattress, covered by a cotton sleeping bag, with a cotton sheet and a fleece blanket if necessary.

I use my sleeping bag to lay on so I’m not laying on the ground………..
Aloha Velowaihine:
Depends on your comfort level … lots of people will bring an 8″ air matress sheets or bag and cot with them.
I only use my med-weight bag, as we are always sleeping on grass, and mostly sleep on top of the bag.
Nights have been getting down to around 78 with plenty of humidity lately. I doubt it will get below 60 next week.
See you on the road!

I like my lightweight bag and it takes up less space than my fleece bag!!!

I bring a light bag and a sheet also. I’m covered for a variety of temps and have extra padding when it’s hot at night.
Fleece bag ~ very compact, light & comfortable

Thanks all… So the sleeping bag stays home and I’m bringing an air mattress, sheet, and a fleece blanket. Oh yeah and a fan… Great idea
Well, Velogal has a great pic – no doubt.
