Some of us would like to do both rides

This is a golden opportunity to ride 1000 miles in 14 days. There is some interest in this.
It would be great if Ragbrai start town would be iowas ride finish town and Ragbrais finish town would be somewhere near iowas ride start town.

swiifg: I didn’t come up w/”double cross”. It originated in another thread.
It sure poses a double entendre, no?
So let’s use a more neutral term such as “crisscross”.

I 1st mentioned it on that other thread but even I stole it from another ride that crosses the state twice, the Minnesota Double Cross. Shorter since the state has a narrow central section. Never though about the double meaning though but good one.

Larry: I totally agree w/you as far as the rides not matching up on either end of the state. However, business is business.
I can’t imagine that someone wont facilitate moving participants from one area to the next and in the process, generate some easy revenue. D.

I agree with that.

That connection may be difficult to make given T.J.’s habit of underestimating the last day’s mileage by around 20%.

Hopefully this charter/ shuttle would do your laundry between point A and point B.

I got at least 20 riding kits( Or I can find a laundry)…retired…already be in Iowa -don’t care how many miles it is from the end of IR to RAGBRAI. Got my van , got my trailer. May need a new crew – all retired or having 2weeks to give up for the experience. Ima ride both. Might be a one time chance of a lifetime.

I figured out my PTO. I think I can do both-PTO wise. Money and physically wise, remains to be seen!

So good to see that many are considering both rides! I’m very fortunate that I don’t have the work leave constraints that many have to deal with, and since I’m a bagger the logistics are much simpler as well. Now I’m just waiting anxiously to see what the routes will be.

Hmm, I hope the weather doesn’t prevent this. We are expecting snow now through Sunday.😳

Interesting that there is nothing about this on either ride’s Facebook page yet.

I found the link on Kyle Munson’s twitter page .Kyle is a former DMR employee and friend of Ragbrai/TJ I will be coming from near Toronto so am either going to do traditional Ragbrai or some kind of split IR/Ragbrai .No offense meant to Western Iowa but don’t want to finish there on the last day of riding , as it would add an extra day of travel.

Hopefully, for those of us unable to be there firsthand, somebody will give us a little information here once the event has completed.

Iowa’s Ride Route announced:

Sunday, 7/12 Dubuque to Monticello (48 Miles/2,174 FOC)
Monday, 7/13 Monticello to Vinton (50 Miles/1,698 FOC)
Tuesday, 7/14 Vinton to Eldora (68 Miles/1,798 FOC)
Wednesday, 7/15 Eldora to Clarion (64 Miles/1,471 FOC)
Thursday, 7/16 Clarion to Emmetsburg (75 Miles/999 FOC)
Friday, 7/17 Emmetsburg to Sheldon (78 Miles/1,730 FOC)
Saturday, 7/18 Sheldon to Rock Rapids (33 Miles/779 FOC)

Maybe there was some compromise – Saturday is only 33 miles – enough time to finish and go to the start of RAGBRAI!
