Why??
What are you offering ???
Where are you out of?
Who do you have on your team??
How long have you been riding the great ride?

Good morning. Why are we taking more riders? Why not? We have the space and resources, so we are doing this for those riders who would like to join a team and have some support.

My office is in La Crosse, WI, but I work with veteran and military families of Wisconsin, Minnesota, and Iowa. During the holiday season, I also work with North Dakota, South Dakota, and Nebraska. I am working with one of my coworkers on Ragbrai, and his office covers the states of Kansas and Missouri. Our organization participates in other activities like military marathons and runs to have a presence and show our support of all of our military branches and their families. Since I work with our veteran and military families across Iowa, we wanted to take the same approach and show our support for them and the communities in Iowa.

We have a few veterans, a military spouse, and a few community members that are riding with our team so far, and we are all coming in from a few different states. This will be the first year that I will be riding as I have been dealing with surgeries the past few years (I am one of the veterans), but we do have 1 rider that has done the ride for a few years with the Air Force team and on his own, and we have another rider that is an avid rider. I am not sure about the other riders as we are working on gathering all of that information.

I hope this answers all of your questions, but if there is anything else that I can answer, please let me know.

I think reddog1 may have meant “is your team” where it says “are you” in the following questions. The last question also relates I think to how long the team has been around. Basically how your team approaches RAGBRAI and where does the team bus load and leave from…

Thanks Mootsman, that is a good point. This is the first year that we are coming together as a team, just individual riders in past years. At this point, we are planning on meeting at the finish, and then transporting everyone and their gear to the expo/start so end the end of the week, they can leave when they want rather than waiting on transportation back. This may change if the teams decides something different as we have more riders join us. We have riders coming from a few different states, so it may also be possible for any additional riders to carpool to the meeting spot rather than driving themselves.

Thanks for opening your team to other riders. I am looking for a team for support during the ride. I have sent an email with my questions.

Thanks, John, Army MSG, Retired

Unfortunately, we will not be having a support team for Ragbrai this year as our insurance company is not able cover the liability. We are still hoping to have riders, but we are currently working on a different solution for the support piece, so we will keep any interested riders informed as details progress.
