Any secrets to getting those rider bands to release without damaging them? I’m riding a different bike this year and would like to move my old tags to this bike. Thanks!
Many would say – new bike, new tag; leave the old tag alone! But, if you must…
Cut it off carefully, then use clear vinyl tape to put it on the other bike.
I was wondering the same thing. Carefully cut the button/attachment of the band off making sure you leave the holes in the band intact. If you could then find the same button/attachment somewhere then you could use those on the old bands and attachment them the same way i think. Or if you could find similar bands and remove those attachments to use on your old bands. Hope that makes sense?
Hack saw through the old frame, then put them around the seat post of your new bike :)
Separate the clasp without stretching the holes. Email me your address and I can send you some new clasps. email@example.com
I just used a single edged razor blade (the kind you use to scrape off stickers on windows) and carefully cut the plastic clasp without cutting the band. I then used a small zip tie for each band and secured them to the newer bikes.
DO NOT ebba ebba nebba ebba ride a different bike to RAGBRAI. Man I shoulda been a NASA level problem solver. Stack ’em up.
