Trumpet Chick

I’ll be bringing my pocket trumpet again this year, ON my bike.  Any tune requests? Let me know, I’m ready to rock da Ragbrai!

Not sure about request but that might make quite the beer bong.

Can you make a beer bong from an bicycle tube?

Be careful. You don’t want to get that thing dented or bent.
I like the William Tell Overture, by the way. Fits in nicely with the bicycles.

Anchors Aweigh – US Navy tune

Summertime – Jazz Standard
Lonely – Herb Alpert & Tijuana Brass
I really considered bringing my old dented up trumpet along this year. Nothing like belting out Reville a little to early for the hard partiers the night before. ;)

Johnny Cash – Ring of Fire: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=0lhf9U5Wf3Q
Outkast – SpottieOttieDopaliscious:  http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=vXmqauitBkM  (the part that starts around :38 seconds)

lol, a little Chuck M would go a long way. I’m sure it could be done on a pocket trumpet!

I was on the USS Butte AE-17 for 5 1/2 years. Its nick name was the Lonely Bull. Because of the extreme hazard of transporting munitions. We always sailed alone. Only pulling along side long enough to STREAM weapons, fuel, and cargo.. When we pulled away from the receiving ship. The Quarter Mater would play Lonely Bull on the 1MC. Memories……..

of course as a trumpet player I know you’re familiar with Maynard Ferguson!  How about a little Give It One?

[Obviously meant “The Lonely Bull”, not “Lonely” in my reply]

That’s a great (but lonely) story. Fitting nickname for the ship!!
While learning how to play the trumpet my father would always tell me, once you can play The Lonely Bull you’ll know you can play! I never thought to ask him why. I wonder if it has anything to do with his time in the navy. I’ll have to find out!
