I’ll be bringing my pocket trumpet again this year, ON my bike. Any tune requests? Let me know, I’m ready to rock da Ragbrai!

Holy Smoke!! I have the double Chase album. Real vinyl too.
La Fiesta (Lead trumpet unless you get like 3 more tumpets) by Maynard F.
Oh yeah…I listened to your WEB site….nicccccceeee!
Echoing sentiments of Chase — Get It On, Boys and Girls Together, and just about anything from the “ENNEA” album. Another ‘must-have’ is “El Cumbanchero”, a standard for just about any high school pep band.
And speaking of “Chase” — did you know that the first song on their first album was entitled “Open Up Wide”, and the final song on what became their final album was “Close Up Tight”?
-“BB”-
If you can play Flight of the Bumblebee while riding a bike up a hill you’ve got to have the best lungs in the world. Now there’s a training regimen for ya!
Hey, if I bring a guitar we can do some jazz duets! Not sure I can do that while riding though ;)
You can always stop by the Peanut Butter Jam and use one of their guitars!!!!
And, I’m voting for some Metallica (S&M style!!!!)
I spent a couple of days at PB Jams last year having a blast.
Years ago we pulled a whole band for a day each year. Okay for the trumpets, saxs (me.) clarinets, kind of suked to be the drummer.
“It’s a Long Way to the Top if You Wanna Rock ‘n Roll” by AC/DC. I bet you could pull off the bagpipe parts on the trumpet.
Trumpet Chick is already getting excited for another Ragbrai filled with bikes, beer, and BRASS! I love the requests from last year, keep ’em comin’.
I have a new mount to hold my pocket trumpet behind my bike seat, so you’ll now see my nice brass from behind, heh heh.
Could you play “Never on Sunday” for the “Spongers Cycling Team”? Yasou!
Hey Trumpet Chick, are you the same chick who my buddy and I performed with just outside Hedrick on XXXVIII? Former HMBer? Spent the summer of ’09 touring the country on your bike? Might be someone else.
I know I’ve played with Joe Skunk more than a couple of times over the years.
Spongers Cycling Team, we’ll have to meet up so I can play for your team, sure! Mitch, I didn’t tour the country on my bike in ’09, but wow that would be fun! I did play my pocket trumpet on the hills of Ragbrai for 2010 and 2011, and will be back in 2012!!
Alicia,
What genres can I pick from? Or, are you versed in all . . .

Hmmm, throw me what ya want as far as genres, I’ll see what I can do! I play a lot of jazz and funk, but for Ragbrai, the usual kickers are tunes like “Theme from Rocky” and “Sweet Caroline” etc.
