Why do you want to do that? It’s an honest question, not a snarky one. If you don’t have a laptop along is there anything you can do with the uploaded data? Assuming that you don’t plan to use the data until you get home your Edge 500 should have plenty of storage for the week’s riding and you can just upload when you get home. You probably want to empty the memory of everything you won’t need that week just to be sure of that. This is what I did last year and it worked fine.
If you really do need to upload during RAGBRAI week you would need something that can communicate with the Edge and the internet. I’m not sure what that would be if not a laptop. You might be able to use computers in the libraries in the overnight towns to do that. If you are the first person to want to do this the line might not even be too long, but that is probably dreaming! If this is critical to you then you could also contact churches, etc or local citizens in advance through their websites or the housing contact listings that will appear in the overnight town websites, eventually, to arrange places where you could upload.
Probably not. I suspect libraries etc will not allow you to download Garmin software on their machines. You should have plenty of storage for one week.
I’ve got a Garmin 500.. I did the C&O Canal a few years ago.. I had no problem erasing my miles daily.. then downloading them all at the end… I plan on doing that this year at RAGBRAI…
Why???? Just enjoy the ride.
I don’t plan to try to transfer my data from my device (G-810) until I get home.
I’m only recording for the miles and routes. I doubt if the mph will not be worth recording.
