We all need a good laugh!

With all of the gloomy and depressing news, statistics, and general BS floating around the Twitterverse, it’s about time we do something to lift up our spirits.

I’d like to hear your favorite biking-related jokes.

Since this isn’t a barroom and I can’t throw out the first drunk, I’ll throw out the first joke (compliments of Granddaughter Woo):

Why do some bikes have kickstands? Because they are too tired to stand up by themselves (rim shot!).

Ouch! Let’s hear your best (or worst) jokes.

See you along the I-O-Way next whenever.

There once was a guy who did mourn
that he liked cycling better than porn.
While Ragbrai was his goal
He never did enroll.
Why? He’s allergic to corn

LCM, welcome back! That was a good one. Now I know why Mrs Woo lets me sleep late some mornings!!

Len, welcome to the jokefest. All humor is Good Humor. Which reminds me of this limerick:

I once knew a guy from LeMars,
Who always biked to the bars.
When I asked him, “Why?”
He replied, with a sigh,
“I’ve wrecked too many cars!”

? (rim shot) I have a few other limericks — about the girl from Nantucket and the gent from Kent — but they are NSFW, so I’ll leave them to your imagination.

See you along the I-O-Way in July.

I live in Massachusetts near the southern boarder of Vermont. It’s Robert Frost country.
To the memory of poet Robert Frost.

If Robert Frost Road RAGBRAI

My bike must think it queer
To stop without a rest stop near
It gives its oiled chain a shake
To ask if there is some mistake

I watch the road fill up with bikes
There’s older people and little tikes
There’s some things I have never seen before, Yikes
There are even recumbents and I think some trikes

Iowa roads can be hot, dry or damp
Legs be strong and do no cramp
I have miles to go before I camp
I have miles to go before I camp.

By Len Radin with sincere apologies to Robert Frost

I had a Ragbrai experience that was not a joke but made me laugh. One of the things I like to do at Ragbrai is to patronize children’s lemonade stands. I was walking from my campsite to town when I spotted a mother/daughter stand. Wondering if the lemonade was from a brand name mix I asked what kind of lemonade they had. The little girl of four years promptly said, “The kind with lemons in it.”

Why does a remark like that automatically make me think of Wednesday Addams’ reply to the little girl in the first ‘Addams Family’ movie —
“Are they made from real girl scouts?”
