This will be the sixth year I bring my trusty Jamis Comet to RAGBRAI. It’s an aluminum frame road bike. Jamis makes some pretty cool bikes, and they sell for far less than the “better-known” brands. Outfitted with Shimano components, Mavic Open Pro Wheels, and Continental Gran Prix 4000s tires.
What about you?

My sweet red Felt with bright yellow tires and I will be sharing our 9th RAGBRAI. My Trek hybrid only lasted the first year. I discovered I like to go fast…er!
Guess I took more the tortoise route, slow and steady but far. Should be interesting to do RAGBRAI after a mere 30 year break.
I’m leaving the new Cannondale Touring II at home for the other self supported rides this year, and bringing my one and only full RAGBRAI bike. My Giant (go figure!) OCR1 with newer Mavic Askium wheels and a Specialized Avatar saddle. Although the new Brooks I put on the Cannondale may start edging up and passing the Specialized on the comfy scale.
Or maybe I’ll go full touring (as in everything including the kitchen sink) and take the bike in my profile picture.
Whatya think?
A black Tour Easy will once again be my choice this year. Aerospoke wheels, 28mm tires, paniers on the rear for my gear and lights for night navigation.
RIDE RIGHT and sandals of course
Silver, 2008 Raleigh Competition, Brooks B17 saddle. And Sandals (Oficial footware of AZ and Ragbrai).
The only bike I have: my Roubaix. I just blew another spoke so I have some new wheels coming. I had it tuned, cables replaced, chain was at 85% wear so we replaced that too. I should be ready…#2 for Ruby and me!
Gary Fisher Cronus
My wife and I are riding our brand new custom made tandem!!!Hills Angels will be in the house with horns on!!!Get ready peeps!!!!
Probably a 2011 Specialized Roubaix Pro road bike with SRAM Red.
mid 70’s Takara Steel frame newly powder coated.
Takagi cranks, aluminum 165mm
Single Speed, with 46×16 gearing – flip-flop so can run fixie when not so crowded or single with free hub.
Brooks bar tape on mustache bar, Selle saddle, Velocity rims on Paul hubs, track wheelset.
Single speed all the way :-) Beer for fuel.
I was going to ride a buddies 2004 Madone that was ACTUALLY USED by Benjamin Noval on the USPS team in the 2004 Tour de France. As cool as that is, I can’t replace it if something went horribly wrong, so after much deliberation (and 1000mi of saddle time this year), I’ve decided to be a hardass and use my 2012 Trek Cobia mountain bike. Welcome to the 2% my off-road brothers!
I’m a RAGBRAI virgin – bring the pain!
Go Boderischterjaehn Narwhals!
OK, I gotta ask:
What’s a Boderischterjaehn?
Its our team’s name. If you see a few with horns on their helmets, that might be us (or watch for the jersey with logo below.)
Good on ya man! Singlespeeds and fixies are hardcore. If I find ya, I’ll beer you.
