I’ve only been road biking about a year now. I’ve not had to deal bad weather, ie-rain, lightning, storm winds, etc. My bike doesn’t have fenders and the tires look like they would be kindof slippery on wet roads. What do you do if you’re in the middle of an 80 mile run and the weather turns bad.? Do you ride in the rain? Even without fenders on the bike? I’m not one that likes to quit anything but would like to hear from more experienced riders so I don’t put myself into a hazardous situation.

I have learned that the rain is nothing….ride through it. I got caught in hail a few days ago that just pummled me and no place to hide. “Hail” to the king!
rIDE ON bROTHA!
Two years ago when it rained AND it was cold, knowing this from the forecast, I brought along an underarmor knock off shirt from Wal-Mart to put on under my jersey. Yes, I was wet but a lot warmer than before. Plus, when the sun came out I put it away in my jersey pocket. Packs up nice. Now I have a cycling vest too for those wet, chilly mornings.
What do I do if rain come, I usually get wet

I like the idea of a bag to pull on, I am planning on riding through the rain for sure unless there’s alot of lightning and/or hail larger than a pea. Once it gets bigger than that it starts to hurt!
But I said it with an English accent, so is better
Nice to see that Beebs is still keeping track, LOL!!!!!!!
Aha! A Mel Brooks reference!!

I’ve ridden RAGBRAI a few times and it rained a little. I was more worried about distracted inexperienced riders falling down on the slippery roads than my appropriate riding clothes. There are enough who go down on the roads on sunny days. I would suggest if you have not ridden for hours at a time in the rain, you pull off like many do and have some food or a drink and wait it out. You will save many from hard falls.
