The anticipation of XLVIII is killing me…so I want to divert that agony by discussing related topics. I’ve rode my Salsa Cutthroat the past 3 RAGBRAI’s so I could do the gravel routes. It handled those routes like a champ, and is a “do it all” bike. With one gravel day this year, I’m leaning towards riding it again, however, two weeks later I’m racing the Day Across Minnesota on it. What is every else riding and why?

trek 7700 multitrack
I successfully rode a Trek 7100 Multitrack in 2014 and 2016. Very effective and nice to not worry about how and where it gets parked at night.

I’m not sure yet. Leaning towards bringing my Surly LHTer. Otherwise, I’ll again be riding my ’99 Lemond Z.
Realized I answer what I’m riding but forgot to say why! So to complete my response I’m riding a 2020 Canyon Endurace because Ragbrai is primarily pure road riding! I usually skip the gravel route and for the most part the roads are in good shape. The Endurace is an endurance model and great for longer days in the saddle. It has a leaf spring style seatpost and it does well on even rough chip seal that we will see on a good part of the route. Mine weights right at 18lbs with my accessories which is decent. That includes cages, mini pump, and saddle bag. Will probably use my wheelset that is Chris King and Hed Belgium plus- tires is a hard choice for me as I love tires! May go with schwalbe or conti clinchers in the 25-28 size which will give me a smooth rolling 29-30mm actual on those rims at 70psi. Past years I rode a 1998 Litespeed ultimate which was also a fantastic choice but last year I found a cracked weld that I couldn’t justify the repair cost. So sad. But I will say the carbon frame is a great ride too and don’t miss the Ti too much.
I’ll be riding a brand new 2021 trek Domane SL 4 its due to arrive next month
Giant Escape 3 hybrid with multiple mods. Racks, stronger wheels, wider tires for those dirt days, etc. etc. etc.
Anyone going with something other than drop bars? Like butterfly or trekking bars, or just a plain old flat bar?
I’ll be bringing my late 90’s Merckx Team SC. Talk about a bike that just feels right, this is it. Okay, it’s been a little squirrely on the gravel loops with those skinny tires but it (and I) always love an adventure.
