As RAGBRAI draws closer, lets figure out what kind of pie is the most popular! It may have something to do with the state you’re from. Envision tables and tables of PIE! Pumpkin, cherry, strawberry, peach, pecan, blueberry and apple, which one do you choose?
I’ll begin, reside in Iowa, choosing pecan almost every time!

PIE
It all depends
1) If theirs ice cream then it Cherry
2) No ice cream then my fav is Butterscotch meringue
Cherry in the morning, apply in the afternoon then pecan in the evening.
Is this a trick question??? It’s like asking, “Which of your children do you love best?”
I like ALL kinds of pie, a la mode, whipped cream topping and otherwise. Mrs. Woo makes a great apple pie, pumpkin pie, pecan pie, strawberry-rhubarb pie and cheesecake (not technically a pie, but who’s gonna complain?). I make a yummy Key Lime pie (no complaints or casualties yet) and ice cream pie out of whatever flavor of Blue Bunny ice cream is at the grocery store. Gee, now I’m hankering for a piece of pie and cup of coffee.
See you along the I-O-Way in less than a month!!!!
Rhubarb, plain and simple.
Mixing Rhubarb with anything else is a sin against humanity.
After rhubarb, cherry.
If no rhubarb or cherry pie is available, I’ll have moved onto cocktails.
1st is pecan 2nd is cherry
Any berry… blue, black, rasp.
rhubarb
apple with ice cream.
I’m from Illinois (and I don’t think that is going to matter!) and my favorite is cherry. A very close second is any other fruit or berry pie. Still not very far behind in third place is almost any other kind of pie. As long as it doesn’t have rhubarb in it. Putting rhubarb in a pie is a sin against humanity!
Ken, Put me down as a sinner, nothing better than the tart sweet taste of Rhubarb. Don’t screw it up and mix it with strawberry. Cherry would come in second.
Strawberry rhubarb a la mode, please and thank you.
Peach or cherry are good substitutes.
I love Coconut Cream pie with meringue! When Lance was on the ride, a person could find coconut cream everyday. Since it has to be refrigerated, normally it doesn’t exist. I wish Lance would ride this year… just for the coconut cream pie!
I like a selection, pie decisions are difficult.
RIDE RIGHT
I ride RAGBRAI to find the elusive gooseberry pie
Rhubarb is first. I like it without the strawberry, but understand when it gets mixed to appeal to a large demographic. After that I’ll go with cherry if they have ice cream or blueberry if they don’t.
Cherry or peach for me……but I am making 2 black raspberry pies to be served at the Methodist Church dinner in Washington on Friday, July 29.
