It takes up a lot of room but a pillow sure feels luxurious in a tent.
Fewer clothes. Stuff you change into after the ride is good for two days or more.
Ibuprofen!
Ziplock bags and ear plugs!
A pinch light. Don’t leave your tent without it.
RIDE RIGHT
If you are camping, bring your own toilet paper and hand sanitizer. By the morning, the kybos (porta-potty if you haven’t heard that RAGBRAI term) will usually be empty of those things. I also take an inflatable pillow. It’s not as comfortable as a regular pillow but it is small and easy to pack/carry.
It might be a tent fan this year.
One good thing about RAGBRAI is you can usually purchase anything you forgot. Chapstick if you value you lips, sunblock, and shower shoes or something similar. Others were covered above. You do not need cycling cloths for each day, you can hand wash them and use them in a few days when they dry out.
I’ve done lots of rides and as was said above just bought a tent fan. I’m not much for ear plugs but bring a good set of eye shades for sleeping.
Straight Cash Homey!!
Tent fan. Butt lotion.
Everything for a bike can be bought in the towns.
Individual pack Prep H wipes.
Ride On!
Glad I ordered a fan on Amazon that’ll be here tomorrow just in time!
Dental floss for cleaning up after eating sweet corn.
Yep, that little fan is worth it’s weight in gold.
Tent fan has been said, but it is a must for me. I pack electrolyte tablets, usually put a couple in one water bottle, and plain water in the other. Between Casey’s, Wally Worlds, and vendors you can pick up pretty much anything else.
Don’t sweat the the little things. You will undoubtedly forget something, but you can pick up most of that from vendors at the expo and kiosks in overnight towns, or any HyVee or Casey’s.
But focusing on things you can’t easily grab on the road…
My absolute DO NOT FORGET list is as follows:
My prescription meds.
My RAGBRAI wrist/bike bands and other credentials.
My bike (goes without saying), but still…
My ID or Driver’s License.
My phone.
My Camelback.
