OK, I know this subject is not quite as interesting as “Amanda’s legs” but it’s all I’ve got right now!!!! Today was my coldest so far, it was 28 degrees, no snow or ice, not much wind and it was a nice ride. Now, it’s beer and football. Life is good!!!!

so far today takes it -5. they predict 12 for a high with 1-2 inches of snow
28 on the 8 mile ride to my office this a.m. and that is my limit. How you guys do colder than that is beyond me. Does coffee in Iowa contain antifreeze?
well the wind was out of the SE so it was kind of at my back. Now it’s warmed up, -4 and snowing. The coffee? I don’t know, probably about the last person alive who dosen’t drink it.
It was about 65 last Sunday – a clear blue sky sunny day with a gentle balmy 5 MPH on shore breeze. A great day to be riding 35 miles….
I apologize to all my hearty mid-western friends for being somewhat cheeky, but this is the time of year to be in Florida!
O degrees. Canadian air came down big this week. I have been watching this thread and wanted to try a cold day ride, thank for the encouragement. Had I gotten our one hour earlier it would of been Negative. Lots of ice an snow on the Wisconsin roads so a quick ride to the Coffee shop and then back home.
92 degrees or 92% humidity? both maybe? Warmest nighttime low, 80?

I can deal with 90’s as long as the beer is cold!
I recorded this at 10:00 AM on day 3 last year. Pretty sure it got hotter later on.
Did a ‘race’ here in Fargo, ND yesterday and the temp was 0. It was a blast.
My low temp this year so far was -14 (5mph wind) when I got home. It was about 5 below when I went out, but the sun was going down and temps dropped quickly in the hour+ I was out. Did 13 miles.
My all-time record was -30 (no wind) a few years ago, did 10 miles. No wind. The bike was pretty stiff that day.
For me, temp and wind speed go hand in hand. -15 and calm is MUCH better than 15 above and 20 mph wind (and 35 and rain is the all-time worst).
I can ride most days in the winter, with some specialized clothing and gear. I ride 5k miles per year, and 10-15% of that is winter riding. My goal for winter is to keep my rear and legs in shape enough to go-go-go when spring brings the temps above 32.

here is a local TV station’s report on our race/ride:

honestly i take the winter months off. I stay in shape by running at the local Y. It’s a different type of shape, but I find that running 4-5 miles a day is sometimes tougher than riding a bike 40-50 miles. I wish my family lived where we could ride all year round, but it’s not meant to be.
we already decided that when my other son graduates we are going to move to the floriday key area but rest assured, we will always come back for RAGBRAI.

Omaha had the dippy donut ride every winter..sunday..for the last 37 years..bscause it started at the Dippy on NWRadial Hwy and went up the Fort Calhoun to Blair and back on the High Road.
Now it starts on 80th and Maple.
I remember using newspaper as insulation in my shoes and extremities in order to survive below ZERO on the inaugural Dippy Ride back then ..with an English bloke named Geoff..dude probably still works at Bike Rack.
The lowest temp ride was back in december at 10 degrees for 15 miles to Des Moines Iowa VA hopital to volenteer.
