227738 for my 34th, aren’t you glad they don’t do roman numerals for you band number? so it would make mine 23 M with a line over, then MMDCCXXXVIII I think. they didn’t have a letter for over 1000. or is that (((II)))((II))(VII)DCCXXXVIII?
I can’t wait–the thought of being on the ride is keeping me calm as I finish up the rest of my teaching this semester. Out here in San Francisco, we’ve been able to get a lot of miles in so I feel like I will be ready physically.
But most of all I just can’t wait to be out on the Iowa landscape, finding old friends, meeting new ones, only thinking about what I need to do to head westward to the next town, and learning to have gratitude for the pleasure of long-distance cycling.
Thoreau, Head East… oh, that would be a good band for a starting city, maybe up north though, they could play Flat as a Pancake and of course There’s Never Been Any Reason.
