Free buses will be available for RAGBRAI riders and other party-goers who pack into downtown Tuesday.
The extended D-Line route will run from 10:30 a.m. to midnight, shuttling people between the campground at Des Moines’ Water Works Park and the festivities in the Court Avenue District and the East Village. Buses will arrive every five to seven minutes, according to a news release from the Des Moines Area Regional Transit Authority.
Most who take the shuttle will have to leave their bikes behind. Each bus is equipped with two bike racks and bikes are not allowed inside the buses.
For those who want to stay clipped in, there are bike trails that run from the campground to the Court Avenue District.
Organizers expected tens of thousands to pack downtown Tuesday night, when the annual ride makes its first stop in the Capital City in 16 years.
The normal D-Line route will still operate from 6:30 a.m. to 6 p.m.
