Heart Health is our Mission!

Heart healthiness is one of our key missions at Businessolver. We want heart healthiness to be a key mission of your organization too. We want everyone who rides on RAGBRAI this year to have a healthy heart before the ride begins. We want you to know your family history. To know your risk factors. We would LOVE to meet you and help you know your heart healthiness. It is our mission at Businessolver to help assure that everyone participating in RAGBRAI has a healthy heartJ.

How do you meet us on the RAGBARI road, you ask? We will be at each host town along with the American Heart Association and Hy Vee. We have lots of fun stuff planned this year and can’t wait to meet you! Come see our booth and get your blood pressure checked and let us help you determine your risk factors.  Just swing by for a couple of minutes and check in with us. There may or may not be prizes involved?. Answer a couple of questions about your heart healthiness, get your blood pressure checked, grab a goodie and let us know #whydoyouride.

Why do we care so much about heart health? We had an employee who was near and dear to our hearts pass away from heart related complications. He was a MAJOR part of RAGBRAI each year. In honor of our dear friend Chris Charron we are working to get the message out there to take care of your heart. Before RAGBRAI, during RAGBRAI, after RAGBRAI. That’s why we ride. Why do you ride?  #whydoyouride

You only get one heartJ. Let’s take care of it as best we can. It is so important to workout on a regular basis, have a great nutrition plan in place, to hydrate adequately each and every day and to get the proper amount of rest. Hydration and rest are key factors that often get overlooked.

We would love for you to stop by and say hey and chat with us about your heart.  From our heart to yours, keep making those healthy decisions!!

Hope to see you soon!  Here’s to great weather this July!!

Survived a heart attack 2 years ago this month causing me to miss RAGBRAI for the first time in many years. I look forward to stopping by and taking advantage of this year’s heart health program.
    Thanks……Bill

Over the 22 years that my wife and I have ridden RAGBRAI we feel this ride has saved and prolonged our lives.
We train for this event. On two separate years of the rides my wife and I experienced difficulties that were diagnosed heart problems when we returned home to California. My wife received 3 stents and I a quadruple by pass. We had our procedures in the Fall that allowed us to train and return to Iowa for RAGBRAI. This was 5 And 7 years ago. We are returning for our 23rd year!

Two years ago in the Spring, I had a “cardiac event” that was diagnosed as an SVT. I had a heart ablation procedure performed soon after, 2-3 weeks of ‘easy does it’, then finished prepping for RAGBRAI and made the ride in July! I now get one of the ‘heart monitor’ tattoos every year!

After a ride, I had a heart event in late April, finding 100% blockage, but 2 strong collateral arteries. They opted not to bypass. AS I prepare for my first RAGBRAI this year, I’m a bit conflicted. I’ve ridden about 1500 miles this year, which includes my indoor trainer rides. Most of my rides have been less than 2 hours in length. Now, as I increase my time, distance and hills, I’m having some mild classic warning signs (chest pressure, arm discomfort, night sweats). I’m training at 6000 ft elevation in Utah, and temps are now in the 90’s. My ride yesterday was 52 miles with 2700 ft climb. Had those warning signs yesterday and over night.
    Proceeding with caution.
