Watch live: RAGBRAI to announce 2020 route, overnight towns Saturday

Organizers of the Register’s Annual Great Bicycle Ride Across Iowa on Saturday night will announce the route that will take thousands of riders through the state this summer.

The announcement also will reveal the eight towns that will serve as overnight stops.

Saturday night’s celebration benefits the Iowa Bicycle Coalition and will take place in the Community Choice Credit Ballroom at 7 p.m. Tickets for the event can be purchased at RAGBRAI.com and start at $55.

Riders can also take part in the excitement by watching a live stream of the event at 8:40 p.m. on DesMoinesRegister.comRAGBRAI.com or the RAGBRAI Facebook page.

“There is a lot of buzz around the route announcement this year,” Dieter Drake, director of RAGBRAI, said in a statement. “We have a great route this year, a great set of overnight towns, and I am excited to announce them so we can get the planning underway.”

The ride across the state will be July 19-25. Registration for the full route is open until April 1. Riders can register for day passes until June 1.

Pass-through towns and meeting locations will be announced in March.
