Interested in Becoming a RAGBRAI RIDE RIGHT Ambassador?

We are excited about RAGBRAI XLIV!  We want the ride to be safe and enjoyable for all.  We appreciate any help that we receive from RAGBRAI clubs and individuals to help make RAGBRAI as safe as possible.  We are asking for volunteers to serve as RAGBRAI RIDE RIGHT Ambassadors.

We have three roles again this year :

• RIDE RIGHT Safety Video in Glenwood
• Driver’s Safety Meeting in Glenwood
• Ride Ambassadors during RAGBRAI XLIV

RAGBRAI® & RIDE RIGHT® AMBASSADORS

SAFETY VIDEO SHOWING

Timeframe: 1 hour, arriving ten minutes before scheduled time. 2pm & 6pm in Glenwood

These are the responsibilities of Ambassadors at the Safety Video Showing:

Duties will include introducing the RIDE RIGHT Safety Video, answering questions about any safety issues for new riders.

SUPPORT VEHICLE DRIVER’S MEETING

Timeframe: 1 ½ hours.

The meeting begins at 4:00 p.m. in Glenwood, please arrive 30 minute early to assist.

These are the responsibilities of Ambassadors at the Support Driver’s Meeting:

Duties will include answering questions about any safety issues for new drivers.

RAGBRAI ROAD AMBASSADORS

Timeframe: The time it takes you to complete that days ride.

These are the responsibilities of Ambassadors:

The Ambassador is to answer questions about RAGBRAI, be familiar with the route, carry a small assortment of tools, carry a pump, and an extra tube to assist riders that need minor repairs (we do not make the repairs, just provide the tools).

The RIDE RIGHT Ambassadors will be on the road during the day wearing their jersey provided by RAGBRAI and should be prepared to answer questions about how far is the next town to where are the repair shops and any other question that may need answered to make a riders experience on RAGBRAI more enjoyable and safer.

Ambassadors are expected to lead by example and follow the rules of the road. The most important aspect of being an ambassador is to have fun and help others enjoy the experience!

If you are a new ambassador, you are eligible to receive a RIDE RIGHT jersey to wear on the road as an ambassador.  Stop by the Iowa Bicycle Coalition booth at the RAGBRAI Expo in Glenwood to pick up your jersey.  Former ambassadors should wear their jersey on their ambassador days.
