Be there as the RAGBRAI XLI overnight towns are revealed for the 41st ride across Iowa!  Join us for the RAGBRAI Route Announcement Party benefitting the Iowa Bicycle Coalition on Saturday, January 26, 2013 in the Grand Ballroom of the Community Choice Credit Union Convention Center at the Iowa Event Center in Downtown Des Moines.

RAGBRAI and the Iowa Bicycle Coalition have worked together for the past several years to bring you the Iowa Bicycle Summit & Expo.   This year’s Summit will again include advocacy workshops and the January Meeting for Clubs and Teams in addition to the expanded consumer expo.

The Iowa Bicycle Summit will once again conclude with a cycling-filled evening of fun with the revealing of the much-anticipated RAGBRAI XLI route and loads of fun!

The evening will feature the live music of the Johnny Holm Band, who are considered RAGBRAI’s premiere party band! Check out this video of the band and you’ll know why!

In addition to live music and the RAGBRAI route announcement, this special night will feature:

  • Silent Auctions
  • Door Prizes
  • “Guess the Route” Raffles
  • Iowa Bicycle Coalition Updates
  • Complimentary RAGBRAI-style hors d’oeuvres & Drinks
  • Complimentary Michelob Ultra and Bud Light Drafts (also a Cash Bar)
  • Special Commemorative Pint Glass
  • Fun for ALL!

Last year, the RAGBRAI Route Announcement Party set a new record for fundraising with $77,000 of funding generated for the Iowa Bicycle Coalition, a non profit bicycle advocacy organization.  Mark Wyatt, executive director of the Iowa Bicycle Coalition said, “this was great opportunity to help bicycling at a time when we really need it.   Our programs are working to build bicycle traffic, but we have a lot more work to do with bike safety to reduce crashes, and safe routes to school to increase bicycling for children.”

The doors will open at 8:00 p.m. and the fun lasts until 11:00 p.m.! Iowa Bicycle Coalition members and Reserved VIP Table guests are invited to enter early for a VIP Pre-Party beginning from 7:00 – 8:00 p.m.

All proceeds from the event benefit the Iowa Bicycle Coalition.  The Iowa Bicycle Coalition builds partnerships, educates Iowans, and helps to establish safe and enjoyable bicycle transportation and recreation networks throughout Iowa.

Tickets on sale now: $30 (early bird rate until January 15)  $35 (after January 15) $40 (day of).  A limited number of reserved VIP Tables (includes 10 guest tickets) are available for $400.

For those traveling in the night before or staying the evening, special rates will be offered by Downtown Des Moines hotels.  For reservations, contact the hotels directly and request the Iowa Bicycle Coalition rate when making reservations.
