Lance Armstrong, Jimmie Johnson to join RAGBRAI on Thursday

Lance Armstrong will meet up with RAGBRAI on Thursday and is expected in the overnight town that night, Cresco, the city said.

Armstrong has become an annual feature on the Register’s Annual Great Bicycle Ride Across Iowa. On his podcast before joining RAGBRAI in 2016, he said, “If you guys can just visualize this … It’s six or seven days long. It’s from the west side of the state to the east. It’s wacky. It’s like Woodstock on bikes.”
Armstrong won the Tour de France seven consecutive times, but the victories were stripped because of doping.
He and his team always attract attention on RAGBRAI, and Armstrong partakes in plenty of eating and golf to go with cycling.

Seven-time NASCAR champion Jimmie Johnson will also be in Cresco on Thursday.
