Please move on and let this die. You have made 4 attempts to explain why this matters, and it really just does not matter to anyone else. I agree with what klkoopman said “”Well, “the route” is the the route…””, so either take the route or don’t take the route, but please get over the idea that the route is wrong.
.. I think it is disrespectful to RAGBRAI women to somehow yearn for them to prance around in bikinis, loincloths, fishnets and thongs.
Or is it disrespectful to Ragbrai women, to not respect their Freedom to wear what they want? I ride Ragbrai with my Aunt, 2 Sisters, Wife, Daughter and more female friends. They’d rather not be judged by…[Read more]
Thanks to Kim Fickett, Editor for a well-written article “A day full of RAGBRAI planning”. (Link in Ken H’s post). Lots of good info. It’s refreshing to see a reporter stick to reporting the facts, with no opinions or “clever” human-interest angles included.
Texts seem to be reliable and go through much better than phone calls. There might be a delay, but usually text get through (as long as neither phone is in no-service area). A call requires both phones to get time on a tower at same time. I think the system can receive a text from one phone, and beam it out to another phone when time allows.…[Read more]
Patiently awaiting route announcement. Would be great to be able to do both. We have been super lucky many times getting a week of great weather, but odds of getting two great-weather weeks in a row are slim, so hope for the best.
Reply To: Can the DMR replace the RAGBRAI staff in time?
In the Fat Hill’s Brewery event, Anne Lawrie said that a former Ragbrai employee Wes Hall, who was the assistant director of RAGBRAI from 2007 to 2013 has been working since October 22nd on the Route planning. Doesn’t look like they lost much time getting someone on the job.. Wes is…[Read more]
The Iowa Bicycle Coalition Non-profit has always seemed to me like a “give me money so I can pay myself to do what I want to do” type of non-profit. They insert themselves into issues as self-appointed experts in effort to drown out local views that may differ from theirs. These “self-appointed experts” applied whatever clout they have in attempt…[Read more]
With 2400 riders already committed to Ragbrai through charters, do the math, that puts Ragbrai close to 1/2 million dollars just from charter’s riders. That’s a pretty solid base to build on. 2400 is per PBV website.
If RAGBRAI Needs an owner, why not us, I mean All of us riders.
Like the Green Bay Packer fan that owns one share of the team, but he’s still an owner.
Somebody get a Kickstarter thingy going on the inter web, where folks can commit to a certain amount of investment. Buy the Ragbrai name from DMR. Issue voting shares to all the shareholders,…[Read more]
Are the towns that “the other side” is negotiating with the same towns that former staff were working with as Ragbrai employees?
The answer to this question will shed light on the actions of the sanctimonious leaders of the “iowa’s ride”.
just sayin’ I hope they are not hijacking a route that was already being planned by Ragbrai employees..…[Read more]
I don’t ride as a supporter, or a defender of Des Moines Register editorial views. It is a bike ride and a great social event. I appreciate the Register for supporting this event and hope it lives on as Ragbrai, which will always be the real bike ride across Iowa. (Real Annual Great Bike Ride Across Iowa ?) no matter what the new trademarked…[Read more]
