I need to get to Lansing on Saturday as quickly as possible. Does anyone have any information about County Road 9 between these two towns. Decent shoulder? Is this going to be the support crew route? Any information would be helpful.
You guys are all missing the most important part of RAGBRAI training, drink beer, get back on the bike and ride, repeat several times. My brother and I ride the twin cities area quite often at a more sedate pace with plenty of rest stops to sample all of the old and new microbrewery offerings in the area!
I’ve ridden the Triple Bypass and Potter’s hill. Wasn’t a hill that came close to something I couldn’t climb on the Triple Bypass (even though I wasn’t acclimated to the altitude) but Potter’s Hill got me about 50 yds. from the finish. Definitely a much harder climb. I know that I can climb a 15-16% grade so the steepest part of PH is more than that.
I’ve downloaded all of the PDFs showing the pass-thru towns but I noticed that they don’t indicate the distances between each town. In past years the number one question I get asked when I pull out my map for the day is “How far to the next town?”. I hope they plan on providing this information this year.
I know what you mean about the cheating Ken. I see people riding in at the finish of the Karras Loop every year to get a patch they didn’t earn. Don’t get it but if it makes them happy… Once saw a bandit in line to get a loop patch, I almost went FMC on him!
