How did all of your young ones do?
My daughter made it through Tuesday, Wednesday, and Thursday as planned. She did not choose to go on beyond that though. She says we can add one day a year. I guess I better put in for my time off to make 4 days possible next year!
Steven, #5 for you, or for Jack? We will definitely keep an eye out.
If anyone wants to make a point to meet up, let me know. We could exchange numbers and make it happen!
KenH, maybe she started a trend!
Jboz, I fear it may already be happening. She is the one that knew the day we were done last year that we were riding again this year. And she is the one pushing for 5 days instead of just 3. We shall see. I’m sure there are worse addictions!
Corey, it would be awesome if we managed to bump into each other. My daughter loves having people to talk to besides me, especially kids!
Cory, that’s great that your little dude is riding with you! I’ll keep an eye out for your triple. That’s the first day we are riding.
Larry, that was my girl! She thinks it’s pretty cool that she was not only noticed, but remembered. She says she is dying her hair pink this year to match the jersey again. I’m glad to hear she was a good rider. We were both new to the whole thing!
Dueywife, that’s great that your boy can use the experience to accomplish goals! We won’t see him because we’re not starting until day 3. I hope he enjoys it.
I love to see people exposing our youth to an active lifestyle!
We will keep an eye out and say hi if we see you!
I don’t ride with a group at all. This is my 2nd year. Just my daughter (now 11 years old) and I. And she usually leaves me in her dust. We rode 2 days last year. Three, if not 5, this year.
You won’t be alone alone!
I emailed the committee about this as well but haven’t gotten a response. I guess I’ll go with Chamber of Commerce unless I hear otherwise. I have someone else taking my car there so I was hoping to have a solid answer. I guess there’s still time.
Did you ever find a team? My daughter and I ride without a team. This is only our second year. I’m sure there are advantages to a team, but we did fine without. We live in Vinton, so not far from you!
I am just over 400 for the year, and my daughter less than that. This is our 2nd year and we only ride a few days. Looks like I better kick it in gear for the next couple weeks!
So just to clarify, without a Monday band I will not be able to camp in the RAGBRAI campground Monday night?
We live almost 2.5 hours away and are using the RAGBRAI truck to transport our belongings. I know myself (and my daughter) well enough to know we would not make it there in time Tuesday morning to catch the truck. If I can’t camp there I’ll figure something out. I’m sure I’m not the only one winging it.

I am also riding Jefferson to Newton. Unfortunately I don’t think I can offer a solution for you as I have someone picking me up in Newton Thursday to take me back to my car.
Are you leaving a vehicle in Jefferson, and if so, where? That is the one main thing I have left to figure out.
Maybe we will see you on the ride. My daughter and I will be moving rather slowly. We are first timers. She is 10. She plans to have red and blue hair. If you see us feel free to say hi!
I don’t have a team, but I am from Vinton. My daughter and I are registered just for Tuesday and Wednesday
KenH, I would love to find some of those friends. If you know any send them my way!
Bill Barry, I’m a bit nervous about the hills myself. We will be amongst the slow, stopping, eating crowd too. Maybe we will bump into you (hopefully not literally!)
Also a non-drinker. Not quite riding solo….my 10 year old daughter will probably be with me. But that might be even more lonely than solo because even if I make a friend I have to stick by my girl.
