I thought the roads were fine for the most part. Yes there were a few rough stretches, but there was also some pristine pavement. We can’t expect the roads to be perfect for the entire route. Even if the route was patched prior to the ride, problems can creep up, so we need to pay attention to road conditions.
Why does it matter what the advertised distance and climb are? I’m riding RAGBRAI even if they advertise 500 miles and 25k feet of climb. A couple of extra miles each day is not going to change how I train. If they advertised some insane amount of climb, then I might try and lose a few pounds to make the climbing easier!
I thought this was the best music lineup in the 13 years I have ridden and that is even after “Here Come the Mummies” had to cancel in Winterset.
