Marne was the “Town that RAGBRAI forgot” in 2001! Ended up being off route that year after a late change by RAGBRAI. Turned out to be one of the BEST parties in RAGBRAI history!! ;)
Yes, many of us that rode that year are still riding! No, the wheel had not been invented THAT long ago! But coed, naked beer slides WERE! ;)

Try as I may, try as I might, at 63 I simply cannot resist the fire roasted corn once/thrice during the week…….. Other than my shear lack of willpower for sweet corn, going keto all the way is not an issue…

Hey! Am 63 y/o with 20+ RAGBRAI’s. Pork Belly guys have been doing my logistics from Boston for the last 8 years or so. You’ll be in good hands for sure! There’s a bunch of “Porkers’ in this age group, you’ll have a blast! 5 more months to go!

Am from the east coast, have the usual logistics issues with bikes, gear, planes-trains-automobiles etc. to deal with annually. For the last several years I have settled in with Pork Belly Ventures out of Council Bluffs. Give them a look. They have their own App for campsite maps and info along the way. Born in 1955, started riding regularly in 1995. Did my first RAGBRAI that year to celebrate 40! Got two replacement knees (6 months apart) in 2010, to fix years of football-skiing-tennis-wrestling-work, etc., etc damage. Am STILL riding RAGBRAI annually. Pedal fast, NOT hard, shift often…… ;)

I have done about 20 or them, my first was when I turned 40…… ;) A good way is to sign up with a charter, many have showers and meals and you can head out with the early riders or lay back with the “dark siders”. Two seasoned RAGBRAI vets planning on driving out to the end town from the Boston area. Will rent a big enough vehicle for bikes gear, etc. We can take a charter shuttle to the start and pick up another rental for the trip home at the end of it all.

I have used the Pork Belly Charters for getting my stuff (bike and ass) to the beginning town. They run coach buses from whatever end town it is back to the start town (and airports too). Look up Pork Belly Ventures here on the RAGBRAI site or google them. Pete and Tammy will be glad to work out the details.

I fly into Omaha, then out of either Quad Cities/Moline or Chicago airports. I have used “Bikeflights” to ship my bike out the last few years, and UPS/FedEx in the past. I NOW have a road bike IN Iowa so I don’t have to mess with shipping/building/disassembling etc for the ride.

Nice ankle! I suspect though that my two knees were done in a much more planned method than your foot!
They were done 6 months apart in 2005, the first one done during RAGBRAI week that year! The Vicodin buzz helped curb my anxiety for missing the knuckleheads riding that year!

Am a multi year “repeat offender” on RAGBRAI, looking for someone near southern NH to train with! I am near the rail trails between Nashua-Ayer, MA, but get to the coast also for training miles. HMU with interest!
