This isn’t my most radical idea for a route but since RAGBRAI likely have the basics already planned out, here is my guess.
Day 0 (Saturday) – Council Bluffs. This gives the ambitious a chance to start their ride in Crater Lake, IA and cross the Bob Kerrey Bridge. Great airport to fly into.
Day 1 (Sunday) – Atlantic. A good stop for what is…[Read more]

Ride Across Wisconsin has cancelled. https://www.rideacrosswisconsin.com/
One of the best things about the Ride Across Wisconsin (RAW) is the way that it connects people across our great state through cycling. Unfortunately, in our current health environment, such a large gathering isn’t a positive. Gathering as a large group in our host c…[Read more]

Amanda, that is great news. Reading the announcement it sounds like it will be a little more austere than originally planned but the Great Iowa Forth and Back (FAB Ride) is still an option. I hope to meet you and all the other Forum Regulars there.

Has anyone ridden in this area? What do you think the completed trail will be like?
“In central Iowa, a 34-mile rail-trail nestled in the scenic Iowa River greenbelt is taking shape that will close a key gap in the Great American’s trek across the Midwestern state. Northeast of Des Moines, the River’s Edge Trail, formerly known as the Iowa Riv…[Read more]

Dear Denver Century Ride Cycling Family:
We hope this update finds you and your family staying well. As with you, the Denver Century Ride leadership team highly anticipates the phased “reopening” of Colorado. We have been carefully fol…[Read more]

Another September ride goes on hiatus. https://www.pedaltheplains.com/
Hello!
With all good intentions, we were planning on kicking off the The Denver Post Pedal The Plains 2020 with a route announcement in mid-March. But then our world changed dramatically with the COVID-19 pandemic. Instead, we have made the difficult decision that it simply…[Read more]

That is a bummer.
RASDak has decided to postpone “The Best Dam Ride” until June 6-12, 2021. The pandemic is expected to peak in SD mid June, which made our decision an easy one, although we did consider RASDak branded face masks. :)
While the date will change, the rest of the tour will remain the same.
Thanks to the many who had already reg…[Read more]

Dear Bran friends and families.
It is with great disappointment in these challenging days ahead that we have to announce the postponement of BRAN for 2020.

I hear you, the RASDAK/BRAN conflict the first full week of June is always a bummer. Roll Massif’s Elephant Rock Ride in Colorado seems to always be the Sunday RASDAK and BRAN start. I didn’t know Missouri and Kansas also conflicted with SD and NE this year. Usually they are a few weeks later.
Colorado’s Ride the Rockies is right after RASDAK…[Read more]

Ari,
I imagine a few people do this from time to time. The last I heard of was 2018. The guy who did it is named Ryan Van Duzer and he put it up on You Tube as a series called “LoveCycles” He has other adventure travel stuff as well.
Good luck!

I have heard on the Pedalshift Society podcast that Ohio to Erie is a great ride. Good surfaces, lots of rest stops, decent dining options. A fun thing I think they discussed is that the state trails people have some sort of patch for those who ride the whole thing but my memory is fuzzy on that.

Mike,
Welcome to the party! You sound like a great rider and I’m sure the great Iowa Forth and Back will be a blast.
To address your questions:
1. Bike Bag. I’d approach a local bike shop to hold it for you. Several people I rode with last year on an ACA Tour did that and it worked pretty well. Which town’s LBS depends on your…[Read more]

Bernard Schwartze replied to the topic RASDAK (Ride Across South Dakota) 2020 in the forum Gatherings & Meetings 3 years, 2 months ago
We had around 200 riders when I rode two years ago. About 15 of them had family that followed with RVs and helped with SAG and stuff. There was always somebody every ten miles or so along the route parked at an intersection in case someone needs help. It was very nice to be that small. I thought it was easier to get to know people. Some that…[Read more]
