Joseph Schlau, great question.. I can’t, but I went out of my way to talk with several people that were riding them. All of them in a town so we were walking, usually on the way in. Some of the answers were, I didn’t train enough for the ride so I went with this, I want to ride at a constant pace ( seen this person going ~15mph up the last long…[Read more]
Things I liked:
Food… Especially the Lutheran Church in Mason city. Porkchop was delightful
Tailwind for the 100 mile day (would have been hard without it)
Smooth roads. (mostly)
Good ride with good people.

I have a Surly Troll this year with 48/36/26 chainring and a 11-36 ten speed cassette. It will crawl up the wall if you can hang on and still cruse at 21 mph in top gear. The…[Read more]
The “rumor” of Lawler is coming from a notice of a town meeting for preparation of Ragbrai hanging in the post office.. Or, so I have been told. But if Hawkeye is the last town then St. Lucas is on the list too, I am thinking. On the last day, I am hoping we spend a good portion of it on the Great River Road… What a ride that would be.
