The Erie Canal Ride hasn’t canceled but it appears that those Who have reserved can cancel with no penalty, certainly magnanimous but if too many people decide to bail maybe the ride will be canceled for lack of riders and not so much because of the Chinese virus. They too are opening the option to defer til next year, cancel with a donation, o…[Read more]

I’ve camped all over in parks in Kansas on bike rides: besides RAGBRAI riders, particularly, seems to be such historical benefactors to these towns. Besides, we’d still have to eat and drink…

I’d be interested….if a ride I’m scheduled on (the Erie Canal ride) is canceled. Do you anticipate camping along the way? I would think if we go to the towns as they were originally scheduled we could camp right in the towns: they’d get a kick of we intrepid die-hards, eh? I’d like to try to arrange a good place to leave my car in Dubuque…[Read more]

It appears that Bubba was originally relying on two false options: accept a 300 penalty or ‘receive a “refund” in the form of performance next year. Of course there is no “refund” and Bubba apparently disingenuously claims the original poster then chose to pursue Bubba’s ‘refund’ option, which of course is untenable and likely illegal. He c…[Read more]

In an effort to help Bubba get the word out on his policies (and fine print?) I’m looking for chat and forums on his upcoming ventures like GAPCO etc. that still face COVID cancellation likelihood.
Been looking at Adventure Cycling Association (ACA) and crazyguyonabike.com so far, any ideas? It’s only fair to help Bubba get the word out!

The only option was for a credit for a future event vs. a refund of the money? You offer a ‘refund policy of 100 percent CREDIT’. That’s not a refund. Adios, who’d want that deal, it’s all win-win for Bubba and lose-lose for the customers.
Rick replied to the topic Ride Suggestions if RAGBRAI cancelled in the forum RAGBRAI XLVIII – 2020 9 months ago
Since I cannot make RAGBRAI this year anyhow, I did sign up for the Erie Canal ride (one week earlier in July, about 400 miles, limited to about 600 riders). They haven’t announced if they’re going to cancel: I bet they will ‘follow suit’ when RAGBRAI makes their decision April 20…. knock wood!!

Some evidence it’s not electrolytes so much as ‘motor neurons in the back of the throat.’

Additionally, as an edit (no edit feature….)to above. Many of these buses have already safely traveled half way across the country just to get to Iowa to get inspected for safety?

I can’t imagine the Iowa State Police doing anything to hamper what is probably the biggest tourist money maker in the state. Additionally, many riders seem to rationalize spending a little too much money here and there on RAGBRAI as a sort of donation to the local citizenry and economy; The Iowa State police are certainly aware of this. This…[Read more]

For individual camping (if that’s what you’re asking about): I’d bring one of those beach shade cabana things like Kelty and a few others make. The heat and sun, at the end of the day was really the only bad experience, for me. I used the RAGBRAI daily truck to move my camping stuff and had no problem being under the 50 lb limit; i’m not sure how…[Read more]

Rick replied to the topic To charter or not to charter, that is the question in the forum RAGBRAI XLIV – 2016 4 years, 9 months ago
Last year was my first RAGBRAI, so I’m certainly no seasoned expert. I used Brancel Charters for the ride across IA to the start, and they did a fine job moving me and my bike and gear. I didn’t use them for camping but did the general RAGBRAI truck option. It was no problem ever dropping off my stuff and retrieving it after the day’s ride.…[Read more]
