I have used PBV charter for 3 years but I still use the RAGBRAI baggage truck. Each year my main issue is that the PBV bus is always so far from the RAGBRAI bag truck so at the beginninng and end of the ride me and all the other riders in this boat have to haul our bags across town to the RAG campground and to get back to the buses. I bought one of those oval shaped ones that plugs into the end of my bars (left bar) so as I’m riding I can glance over and always know what or who is coming up behind me. No one piece of cycling equipment has given me more peace of mind in the saddle than that little $10 mirror. All cyclist should have one.

Don’t over think it. I’m a 40 year old in decent shape and I had 450 miles in before the start of last years ride. I had no issues at all with completing each days ride and felt great at the end of each day. Some riders will try to get in well over 2000 miles but it really isn’t necessary. Last year was my first full RAGBRAI and I rode with my brother for 3 days and then a couple guys I met on the previous years RAGBRAI for two days and then rode the last two days by myself.
