I look forward to a very creative and unique design that stands out and will catch people’s eye for inquiries from non-RAGBRAIers. To be honest the 40th version was very poor so, please do not use that as a basis for a “retro design” for a 50th RAGBRAI version.
I think it is important to keep things in perspective. The Iowa State Patrol is HELPING keep the ride safe which means moving people along throughout the day. I have no doubt that once the shut down times are set they will follow them and if there was some confusion, then the riders need to adjust and get over it. If your interest is riding into a…[Read more]
I typically leave for the road around 6 am each morning looking for blinkers to follow. Sometimes it is clear which direction we are to follow and sometimes it is not so clear and there might be some riding around “looking” for the riders. It is common to run across other riders also looking for the way out of town all asking “which way” which…[Read more]
This change opens up a visit to the river on Friday by going to Bellevue which would pick up some of the pass through towns that would have been on the previous route. Then picking up the same towns going into Clinton on Saturday. A good option that I hope is considered.
I remember my first RAGBRAI like it was yesterday, it is something like feeling a turning point in your life. In 2005 I trained very hard and read everything I could to prepare for the ride. While I made several decisions that I did not repeat in future years, like taking a CamelBak, completely unnecessary plus it made me so much hotter than I was…[Read more]

I did a number of loop rides out of Trempealeau County Wisconsin. They have a number routes marked with great signage and most B&Bs provide maps of the routes for the day, many small towns and…[Read more]
I thought the same thing, but then I went back and re-read the email from RAGBRAI that provided the details of the transfer process. The email DID state that confirmation would be sent in June. Therefore, at this point I will wait until June to see if I get the confirmation before bothering them again.
My statement was intended to keep things in perceptive when the true value of the RAGBRAI experience is the people that we meet along the way including all the people in the communities that put months of work into preparing their communities for our onslaught. The communities are under stress too knowing they have to take care of themselves…[Read more]
While RAGBRAI 2020 still appears far enough out that the current virus crisis may not impact it. It should also be noted that in order for the communities to prepare for RAGBRAI Nation to visit there is substantial group work to be done. When people are told not to gather in groups could impact the ability to getting enough people together to…[Read more]
