Hey Rick, I could have room for one more. Were do you live? I’ll be driving to the end town (Lansing) so you’ll need to sign up for one of the buses going to the start. Let me know how to reach out and we can discuss further.
I’m 61 and I passed on the century loop last year (my first Ragbrai). I did so just because it was optional…I could of done it and would of just been fine. I love the fact we’ll get to do a century this year. Just another memory and life experience I’ll talk about for a long time. I just feel if you train for this you’ll be fine. I trained 1800 miles last year and felt great after each day. The hills really weren’t that bad. So prepare yourself by getting some good training in (saddle time) and enjoy the ride. You’ll be talking about it for many years to come. See you on the road!
Hey Zcordell, I’m up in Prescott Valley. Just rode today with someone from Phoenix. Would be great to go on a ride or two together with the group. Up here in the summer is very nice as well. Is your group flying up or driving??
Mike Murphy, does this tent fit in one of your 2 bags you use to haul your stuff? All the ones I’ve seen are round and don’t look like they would fit. Love this idea though!

First year dude here and riding with my first year daughter Brianna…so so excited. Did 71 miles and 2k feet of climbing and when I finished it was 97 degrees…Helen you got this and the slopes you just have to be slow and steady up them. Ride on!!
We’re not looking for a team but this will be the first Ragbrai for my daughter and I. So looking forward to this. We are also using Pork Belly and would love to join for a hoppy beverage…Ride On!
My 1990 Centurion / Diamond Back road bike. I think that’s the year they merged and only year where both of their logo’s are on the bike. It’s a faithful soul and got me cross country in 2000…Ride on!
I’m in! 2020 was to be my first so now 2021 will be my first…the blessing is my daughter is joining me and this will be her first organized ride…hope it happens.
Jboz – That sounds like a great ride…beautiful part of the state. August would work well for me. How do we proceed to make this a reality? Klkoopman – Thanks for posting the link to the trails. I always remember my dad riding one of those great trails around the Kalamazoo area.
That might be something I would be interested in. I’m in Arizona but maybe Michigan as that’s where I’m from…or something more westerly. This is my first year back into riding and I would fit into your riding style. I’m almost 60 and wanted to do Ragbrai to challenge myself in my 60th birthday year. Not having a “goal” ride has me cutting back how much I’m riding…so I need a goal.
I would be interested but based on the number of people who would like to do this. I was thinking around 20 or so would be a manageable number for logistics and the towns. I’ll watch this thread to see what comes of it. I need to have a ride to look forward to for motivation.
I’m loving all these suggestions. Maybe a small group of us(10 -20ppl) could do a ride somewhere? Self supported?? Or if someone had a person that could sag and transport tents, baggage, etc. I don’t know just trying to think outside the box. Thoughts?
These are all great suggestions. I know what you mean but needing a goal, something to train for in order to keep up with the miles needed. I’m going to check them all out. Love the Cali one as I’m in AZ and it’s close. Love the Michigan ride as I’m from there…Go Blue! The Canada ride looks intriguing and something to consider for future rides (I bought low Jboz during this downturn so the market going up will help the cause).

I personally don’t care what town is first or last I just pray we have a ride. 2020 was to be my first RAGBRAI and I hope I can say 2021 was my first.

Scott, what state is this ride in? Maybe I need to map out my own.
