Thanks for the heads on the baggage truck. I’m actually riding with a charter and by some stroke of luck or genius I booked a hotel in DM months ago so I just arranged for them to keep my gear on their baggage truck. Charging lights, gps nav and myself.

I understand the official start time is 6am, but with tomorrow’s heat and distance, I’m wondering about a pre 6am launch for a reasonably self supported and well lighted rider. Will I be alone or are others weighing the risk/benefit ratio of an earlier start vs the heat of mid day?

Hi Andrew and other solos. I too rode solo in 2018 as part of a half crossing of the country. My first RAGBRAI was number 5 in 1977. I’m riding down from Minneapolis next week and plan on meeting up with everyone in Storm Lake. I’m a RAGBRAI V rider planning a leisurely paced multi-surface ride from Minneapolis (PRE) to RAGBRAI and then on to Milwaukee (POST) afterwards. I’m figuring on 40-50 miles days with hotel stays before and after, while taking advantage of a Charter to lug my gear as I’m enjoying RAGBRAI.
