Our group has found this to be the most effective though. I suppose it depends on what you’re looking to achieve. If it’s simply to hang out during the evening, meeting at the landmark has worked for us. 7pm at the north side of the square is easy to remember and is almost applicable in every overnight town. You either make it or you don’t,…[Read more]
I’m excited about Iowa’s Ride because it has the potential to be like RAGBRAI was (in my imagination) 40+ years ago. I’m probably underestimating but if there are more than 2,000 riders on Iowa’s Ride I’ll be surprised. With fewer riders, I expect finding people that are riding a similar pace and having longer conversations with less concern…[Read more]
I saw the pictures and consider the Capitol to be a red herring, as it was him arriving back in Des Moines. On his Facebook, one person noted the share the road signs were just outside Le Mars which he “thumbs up”, which again might be a red herring.

Off day in Des Moines to see the sights and to make it a seven day event rather than the original six days. Big name act in Des Moines night 1.
I got 27.8 for the full loop with 17 being gravel that is very close on the quoted elevation. I also had difficulties determining the last part of the loop that connects back to the main route and made my choice based on interpretation. https://ridewithgps.com/routes/29246457
I also guessed five (Atlantic, Winterset, Indianola, Fairfield, Keokuk) and have neither heard nor received a message. Fine print in the rules said one could request a list of winners via the mail on or after February 10th. Perhaps so many people entered and guessed five that it’s become an administrative nightmare to finalize the contest.…[Read more]
Was a winner every announced? I saw in the rules that February 10th was the date one could request a list of the winners but I never saw a posting. Having picked five of the towns, I know my chances are slim but one never knows.
