I realize nothing will beat Potter’s this year but will any hills this year even compare to the couple on the last day of last year coming out of the state park? Those were a fun challenge!

Last year I used an air mattress for sleeping in a tent. It was comfortable enough but even with a battery powered pump it was a lot of work to inflate when getting to camp, deflate in the morning, and fold up and pack away. I’m not sure exactly where these county lines fall. Do these counties cover the entire first day? Is day 2 affected at all? What would be the last pass through town that falls within these counties?

I heard several people comment that it was overpriced for what you get and it’s just pasta…nothing special so I never made a stop there.

The HoQ(I think it’s called) breakfast stop that had the fabulous burritos everyday just out of the start town told me on day 6 that they wouldn’t be serving on day 7. When I asked them why they would skip the last day they replied that the county was charging $1000 for a permit to do business that day and they couldn’t make any money that way.…[Read more]

Agreed, every other county we went through had no problems to my knowledge. Iowa has a great craft beer scene going and places like the Iowa Craft Beer Tent and Iowa Beer Bus sell local product, which in turn supports local business, which ultimately supports Iowa. This will be my first year doing the full ride. I’m conifident I can handle the ride. With as hot as it’s been recently I’m more concerned about camping for a week.
