That’s pretty spot on Chris. I find that 2:30 AM is a great time to use the toilet and send texts, emails, etc. Not at the same time though, that would be gross. I have AT&T and don’t even attempt to use my phone during the day, except for Strava which works even on airplane mode.
If you are going to Minnesota then Walker would be a good spot. Two long rail trails intersect near Walker. You could make Walker the home base and have a long ride in each of the 4 directions. To Cass Lake and the Migizi trail around the lake then back to Walker is about 50 miles. To Bemidji and back is about 70 miles. To Park Rapids and back is about 60 miles. And then going South you could go to Brainerd or realistically about as far as you can handle. Walker to Brainerd would be about 70 miles one way.
Devils advocate here – Ragbrai XLVIII is not cancelled but postponed to 2021. In theory Bubba could use that angle to avoid giving full refunds. But since Bubba references that Ragbrai 2020 is cancelled it appears he’s not using that approach.
Reality is this is a unique situation that calls for full refunds for downpayments on Ragbrai 2020. Let 2020 be what it is (not happening) and 2021 be a completely separate transaction if Bubba’s customers so desire.
I made a bad assumption. Zac Brown Band is playing there that night and perhaps I gave RAGBRAI too much credit thinking they could land someone that big.
Crap. I think I got my days mixed up. I swear I could feel it in my TOES that July 25 would be in Monticello. Well anyway, there’s gonna be a big party in Monticello on the 25th!
Maybe one ride can be for E-Bikers and the other ride can be for the tough guys that can do it on their own! :)
What a great gesture by RAGBRAI. Who knows if this came through DMR or if it’s RAGBRAI trying to distance themselves from DMR (who wouldn’t?). I’ll take it at face value and say kudos to RAGBRAI for making the donation.
Just unbelievable. How much of my registration goes to the DMR? I may need to reconsider. The most amazing part is that Aaron Calvin’s old tweets are WORSE than Carson’s old tweets. I would think that if you are trying to find dirt by digging through old tweets that you would delete your OWN tweets first.
Since our vehicle was parked in Bluegrass we found a sweet little tire dip spot just before Montpelier. There was no sign for it but I happened to see it as we were riding by. Might have been only 3-4 other riders there doing the same thing. At the time I wondered why more weren’t taking advantage of the opportunity. Now I’m really glad we didn’t go all the way to Davenport.
I think the vast majority enjoy camping and are OK with that option and the affordability and versatility it brings. But I’m not one of them. Count me in on something like this!
