Off the top of my head I really liked Le Mars, Lytton, Ackley, Alden, Ft. Dodge, Webster City, Iowa Falls , Parkersburg, Walker. Hottest RAGBRAI since 2012. I left early and left late and I feel there was less people overall this year. The road felt less crowded. Good news is that I didn’t see too many crashes, ambulances etc.
Being in the Midwest and not a big fan of the cold I bit the bullet and bought a Wahoo Kickr’ and started using Zwift mid-December. Since then I’ve put in almost 500 miles on Zwift alone. I can’t remember what time the towns actually get announced. It seems like it’s awhile though from when the feed starts. No real idea this year for towns. I think it’ll start in Le Mars and end in Fort Madison though.
I’ve gotten a jersey every year I’ve done RAGBRAI. I’ll wear this years on the official jersey day. I usually will wear other non RAGBRAI jerseys during the rest of the week especially college spirit day. Go Gophers! I wear my RAGBRAI jerseys quite a bit when riding. Always a good conversation starter.
I’ll agree that there hasn’t been a lot of leaks to this years route. I think I guessed 4 last year and most years I get 0 or maybe 1 right. I’m thinking central route this year. Le Mars would be a cool start. Blue Bunny ice cream!
A question for those currently using Zwift. What smart trainers are you using? It seems like the Wahoo Kickr is the most popular. The late Spring here has me thinking of getting a smart trainer and using Zwift starting in the fall.
