Well, this is by no means my original creation. However, whatever the logo is… PLEASE write the date on said logo as…….. since this would have been my 25th consecutive ride….and this is to cover both rides to keep my string…. OK ok… drum roll please…….2020one
RAGBRAI people. I rode my first RAGBRAI in 1996, thinking I would give it a try (once). I had so much fun, that I decided I’d ride 5 years and stop. For the first 6 years I ordered the Registers souvenir packs. Never opened the brown shipping papers. They are “doing” me no good. If you have any interest in owning these historical documents, for…[Read more]
Hey RAGBRAI kids. I really enjoyed reading the posts on this topic. This year had it happened woulda been my 24th consecutive ride, all the way from North Cakalaki. I got lots of only on RAGBRAI stories, most about the trust and generosity of the people in Iowa who allow me and our gaggle of funny talking southerners to camp, sleep, eat, shower -…[Read more]
Hey. I live in NC. Have ridden every CNC except the first one and 23 consecutive RAGBRAI’s.Yep, sometimes it rains in NC, course sometimes it rains in Iowa. Maybe not 4 days in a row? Sometimes, at least 4, it tornadoes in Iowa, sometimes it’s hot in Iowa. Do not come to a mountain ride and expect 80degrees, bring a jacket. Do Not ride any of…[Read more]
Hi. Hope you have a great RAGBRAI. I like math. 15 members, half male and half female. How you do that? It had to be asked. I’m not the only one. Just the only one ‘dumb’ enough to ask. So, what did I win. I know I’m on camera or something.
Whew!!! More lashing on a dead horse? Outsider view to follow – I will be brief. I do not have any IR or Register ties. I simply come to Iowa on vacation – that was until my retirement in2016. Now I drive out for a bike ride no vacation needed. I was not ‘angry’ about the decision of another RIDE… op to ride…[Read more]
Hi kids. I had to ‘chime’ in on this topic. My first RAGBRAI I was “Virgin” trained to SPEAK to any rider in close proximity that I was passing, I was young(er) a member of a race team AND I passed a lot of riders. Always with a southerndrawl good morning, nice day, not another heel (hill), nice bike, where ya from….etc. On your…[Read more]
I got at least 20 riding kits( Or I can find a laundry)…retired…already be in Iowa -don’t care how many miles it is from the end of IR to RAGBRAI. Got my van , got my trailer. May need a new crew – all retired or having 2weeks to give up for the experience. Ima ride both. Might be a one time chance of a lifetime.
Well, this decision is almost perfect.Living in NC and traveling to Iowa (LONG DRIVE) for what will be my 24th consecutive ‘rag’ ride -I have been quiet. Until now. I have opinion galore but no sayso on the recent rift. I love Iowa – the state, it’s inhabitants and RAGBRAI(obvious?) .. but.being just another visitor -Mr.TJ hasn’t the slightest…[Read more]
Yeah, I keep seeing this question, and wonder why it’s a question, ’cause less I flunked remedial reading Marne is on the route? So I assume it’s to seek – inside info as to whether or not Marne is a thing to do stop? So to answer, Marne was a great stop when it was not a stop. My first ever really crazy naked(ish) beer slide stop….drink a bit…[Read more]
23rd RAGBRAI, never locked my bike. Never been stolen, but I do for the most part ride crap bikes? A couple of my traveling partners, stole my bike from me whole is was sleeping, ( their idea of a joke) on one trip and sold it to some lady for $25. She took it to her camp, but her husband assured her it must be a joke…. they returned the bike.…[Read more]
