Let It Snow, thanks for the tip! I am not a “hammer” style biker but I will sure try it! KenH I love sugar…too! I just have to watch that I don’t do a lot without some protein rich source to ensure that I don’t bonk when the sugar runs out. tons of great advise out there!
Don’t like it. For me sugar is an issue. So most sports drinks have way too much sugar for me and unneeded for all. I drink a minimum of 24 oz of water an hour. I snack on 200 calories of low sugar energy bars. If I do that I am fine for 10s of miles. At Ragbrai I eat great regular food along the route. Many people just dont eat and drink enough.

Harkening back would be to Years 2 and 3 of Ragbrai. I was currious so I looked back at the records. I was estimated that 300 rode the first year with 144 making it all the way. Year II it was estimated that 1700 rode. Year III about 3200 rode it and 2400 made the full distance. I do love the gravel loop cuz the crowd is so small.…[Read more]
