We are looking for a place to park 2 big rigs (45′ bus-style RVs) near Ames or Jefferson. It seems like most RV parks/campgrounds in the area are first-come, first-serve and do not take reservations. This is obviously not ideal for the week of RAGBRAI. Does anyone have any ideas of places that might offer RV parking near these towns? We are doing…[Read more]

The best advice I read before our first RAGBRAI was to pack each day’s kit in a separate zip lock bag. It keeps it dry (because EVERYTHING gets wet at RAGBRAI and everything STAYS wet) and makes it super easy on those early mornings to just grab the bag and have everything you need. For me, I’ll cut down on the after ride clothes. You really don’t…[Read more]

Agreed. This is not like any other ride or race. You might even find yourself doing something not quite right. :) Something else to keep in mind is that, surprisingly, this is the first organized ride for many. So while seasoned cyclists may think that this is all common sense, it is completely unknown to many. Try to remember back to when you…[Read more]

In reply to the concern about the speed impacting your enjoyment of RAGBRAI — I wondered the same thing when doing our first RAGBRAI in 2016. We’d been training hard for rides in Tuscany and Spain and so we had been focused on riding hard and fast. But, RAGBRAI is different. It will take a day or so for you to get in the groove. 8mph is not…[Read more]

We are coming to RAGBRAI from Florida. We will drive our RV to Muscatine, park it in long term parking and meet up with our Charter.
We are planning to leave the weekend before (July 16th) and get ourselves close to Muscatine for an easy drive in on the 23rd.
During the week of the 18th we will need solid cell service for work. Does anyone have…[Read more]

Has anyone seen the new Ladies Gemini tanks in person? I purchased a kit and would also like to get one of these tanks. I would like to pick the tank that would go best with the kit shorts. The logo one seems like the obvious choice, but the green color appears to be significantly different. The Starry top seems to have the same green color…[Read more]

We are planning to drive our motorhome to Muscatine and meet up with a Charter for the week. Will there be parking in the Muscatine area for our motorhome? Does anyone know how I can find info and make a reservation if needed? We don’t plan to use the motorhome for RAGBRAI.
Thank you.

We are RAGBRAI first timers. Though we have a motorhome we are realizing that it is probably more complicated to use the motorhome than to use a Charter service. Sure we’ll miss our A/C, but is it worth the hassle? What are your thoughts/experiences? If you’ve used a Charter, what are the key things to look for in their offerings.
